K’U was founded in 2007 to support the most vulnerable of the nearly 30,000 people
living on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The children of Shannon Country are of a strong and enduring spirit but many face the daily realities of life in the
second poorest region in the United States -- lack of telephones, running
water, plumbing & electricity.
K’U
in Lakota essentially means to give and of ourselves. It is in this spirit that the host committee is excited to give you what promises to
be a fantastic event so that together we may give much needed supplies and essentials to the children of
Red Shirt Elementary and Virtual High School.
